Africa is well-known for being the cradle of humankind, because it was place where the first hominids, human beings and chimpanzees evolved a long time ago (5 to 10 million years ago), there were many fossils found in Africa, proving that modern human beings spread on this continent. The most relevant evidences about it were found in South Africa.

This continent is the world's second-largest and second-most populous continent. This continent is located in the Eastern hemisphere and to the major part in the Northen hemisphere.

Africa counts with 54 countries and 9 territories. It has a total of more than 1.1 billion people living on it, and this number represents the 15% of the world's total population. The largest country of Africa is Algeria, and it is among the ten largest country in the world. In terms of population, Nigeria is the most populous country with more than 180 million people, even though it is way smaller than Algeria.

The African continent has more than 2000 different languages that are currently spoken. In many countries, some africans speak English, French and Portuguese as well, as an aditional language since these languages are commonly used for business.

When it comes to talking about animals, Africa offers a huge variety of animals. We can find some of the largest mammals on this planet. From the largest land mammal (the african elephant), the tallest mammal (the giraffe), to the fastest mammal (the cheetah). There is also a park called Kruger National Park which preserves the lives of the animals, this park is one of the biggest national park and wildlife conservation areas in the world.

In summary, Africa is such an amazing continent that contains an immense diversity of everything and also too much history on its land.
